“Make in India” Investment Forum organized in Gaoyou (Jiangsu) - December 16, 2016’
A “Make in India” Business Forum focusing on the investment opportunities available in India to Chinese entrepreneurs was organized earlier today at Gaoyou (county level industrial hub located in Yangzhou - Jiangsu). Nearly 100 local companies from Gaoyou from sectors like Photovoltaic Cells, Textile, Garments and Textile Machinery, Electrical Appliances, Renewable Energy and Real Estate and Construction participated at the Business Seminar.
During the MII Investment Forum, Consul General Prakash Gupta introduced the policy incentives available to foreign investors in each of the above sectors and assured Gaoyou companies of necessary facilitation in their investment plans for India. Gaoyou Vice Mayor Sun Jian Nian also addressed participants and called upon them to develop tangible project proposals for investment in Indian Infrastructure and Textiles as well as in SEZs.
Mr. Gou Feng Cheng, Party Secretary of Gaoyou also interacted with Consul General and it was decided that Gaoyou leadership would lead a high level investor’s delegation to visit India later next year. During the visit to Gaoyou, Consul General also visited Bosideng, a leading textile manufacturer from the Eastern China region.
It may be noted that Yangzhou (under which Gaoyou is located) had earlier hosted a large scale Business Forum and an India Week in September 2016. The India Week celebrations included an Indian Film Festival, Food Festival, Art Exhibition and a Cultural Performance. The Make in India Seminar held today in Gaoyou was a follow-up to the deepening engagement with Yangzhou city, which continues to be a key focus partner for Consulate General of India in Shanghai for 2016.
